Donna Marie Graves
A mantra of "love and people matter" is at the heart of my personal and business
nature, approach and philosophy.
It is a total honour to be a part of your life affirming moments, witnessing your memories in the making, creating lasting smiles to cherish, for all involved.
I live near Llantrisant, South Wales but I also have links with many other areas of the U.K. Having traveled over the 'bridge' from Cambridgeshire, over twenty years ago. I regularly travel to the rest of Wales, the south west of England, the Midlands, East Anglia and Northumbria. I am willing to officiate locally, nationally or internationally, for elopements too!
My clients report that I am people focused, caring, compassionate, empathetic, approachable, calm, supportive, organised, creative, reliable and professional.
My professional background includes training for the NOCN Level 3 qualification in family celebrancy. I am an official member of 'The Celebrant Directory' and the 'Association of Independent Celebrants'. So I have the required training , experiences and those all important insurances!
In addition to celebrancy, I have taught in a secondary school, conducted public speaking, trained many student teachers, written and produced creative resources and scripts along with a plethora of the performing arts.
Having taught religion, ethics, philosophy, diversity and equality, it is important to me that all views, values, relationships and lifestyles are embraced. With this grounding in diversity, I am able to offer non-religious, religious, humanist, spiritualist or any other approaches to your ceremony.
My significant other 'loves' include my precious family: husband, son and pet golden lab.
Along with an eclectic group of friends, socialising, coffee drinking and cake eating. As 'middle age' has hit I have begun to explore mindfulness, the great outdoors, travelling and photography. You will become aware of my passion and slight obsession for the 'beautiful game', i.e. football (avidly supporting not playing).
The Inspiration for my Celebrancy Journey
I had a 'light bulb' moment when I discovered what a 'celebrant' does and what they can offer. the freedom to involve any of your own personalised 'loves' in your own ceremony.
I had wanted to involved our pet samoyed dog 'JJ' in our wedding ceremony 16 years ago. He did manage a photographic presence, but had a celebrant led ceremony been available then, he would have walked down the aisle as our ring bearer and been more heavily involved as our precious 'fur-baby'.
In addition, I would have preferred a 'naming' ceremony for the welcoming of our precious son and the thanksgiving for his life, rather than the traditional 'Christening' ceremony we had 15 years ago. I felt 'hypocritical' having 'godparents' and making promises in Church.
With so many world views, rituals, symbolism and meanings now followed in the U.K. it is exciting to offer the total freedom for all family celebrations and ceremonies.
I look forward to hearing from you and collaborating to produce your hand-crafted, meaningful and personalised ceremony.
